Collaborative Budgeting for Joint Initiatives

Kategorie: Allgemein

You have a great idea or want to support others in implementing their initiative? Then join as idea holder or community voter!

As an open and diverse network, MitOst connects active citizens across different sectors, with different backgrounds and expertise from Europe and its neighbouring regions. Collaborating on common projects we create local and cross-border impact in the areas of cultural exchange, active citizenship, social cohesion, as well as sustainable urban and rural development.

During the Year of Community, we will develop our community's potential to shape pathways to a just, sustainable, and livable future for our societies. We also explore how current and future community members can contribute to this meaningful and impactful community, and share our common resources of time, creative ideas, passion, expertise as well as money in resonance-based ways.

We invite you to be part of a prototype collaborative budgeting process! Let's develop a new approach of doing projects together in the MitOst community!

The MitOst Community in Action budget consists of 6.000 euros. From March to September this budget is available for projects. The funds will be distributed based on the decisions of a group of community members – the community voters. As a tool, we use the Cobudget platform to accompany this process. Learn more about the process here.

Who Can Participate?

The collaborative budgeting process is open to anyone who feels part of the MitOst community and has a connection to MitOst. You are a member of the association, have a work relation to MitOst, have been or are involved in a collaboration, e.g. through one of our programmes, have previously been engaged in a MitOst activity such as the MitOst Festival or have a heart connection to MitOst? Then you are very much invited to participate in our prototype collaborative budgeting process!

You are interested in participating as either an idea holder or community voter and have questions towards the process or the tool before you want to commit? Bring your questions, find out how to navigate the process and use the Cobudget tool during our community check-in.

Get Involved as Community Voter

Collaborative budgeting for joint initiatives is a practice to share responsibility in the distribution of community budgets. By using the Cobudget tool, we can be transparent about which projects receive how much financial support.

As a community voter, you hold a share of the common budget and allocate it among the proposed initiatives. From the end of March to the end of April, you will exchange ideas with idea holders about their initiatives to gain a comprehensive understanding of the proposed initiatives and provide feedback to the idea holders to work on their proposals. You will participate in the Co-Creation Space on 25 March and be a community voter on the Cobudget platform. In the final phase, you will also distribute your share of the common budget to the initiatives.

Get Involved as Idea Holder

Collaborative Budgeting for Joint Initiatives is a catalyst to increase meaningful and impactful engagement, collaboration and common initiatives in the community. How does your idea respond to the Year of Community’s calling question?

How can we nurture community in times of uncertainty and complexity and, together, shape new ways towards a just, sustainable, and liveable future?

Anything goes – We intentionally invite a wide scope of initiatives! We do not want to limit your creativity and ideas. The collaborative budgeting process is a space to observe which topics, issues and approaches are alive in the MitOst community. All proposed ideas and conversations about them will be valuable and meaningful contributions to explore together and make visible what the MitOst community is about for us.

You have a great initiative to nurture (the MitOst) community or another idea that resonates with the calling question and is in line with the MitOst statutes? Become an idea holder! Your initiative is still a bit rough and needs some refinement? Great – that’s part of the process, as all of the initiatives will be discussed with other community members and get feedback before they are finalised on the Cobudget platform. You can also call a session in the Co-Creation Space on 25 March.
