Exclusion and Cooperation between Roma and Non-Roma in Bulgaria and the Consequences for Germany

The project highlights the challenges the Roma minority is facing in Bulgaria. The focus is on young Roma who are particularly disadvantaged in everyday life. The lack of public discourse on the problematic position of the minority leads to a marginalisation of the Roma and the formation of parallel societies. The project team, a group of five international students from the Free University Berlin, would like to promote a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion of Bulgarian Roma and the consequences for European societies. Therefore, they organise a conference in the Berlin Bulgarian Cultural Institute taking place on June 21st 2018.
