Competendo: Tools for Facilitators

How to inspire personal, professional and societal development? How  can modern competency-centered learning be put into practice? offers knowledge, well-tried approaches and methods.

Competendo builds a bridge between theoretical dimension (competency concept and validation frameworks), societal impact (socio-political dimension) and the concrete working fields of actors in formal and non-formal education (field dimension). It makes concrete methodology accessible, helps during planning trainings and empowerment programs and targets as well facilitators and educators that have less experience or are less involved in the European and national discourses on non-formal education, didactical principles or validation.

#3 The Everyday Beyond

ISBN 978-3-944012-33-9

Ed.: Matthias Haberl, Jana Teynor, Nils-Eyk Zimmermann, Maria Prahl

The development of a globalised world and intensified European cooperation brought about a lot of movement. Thus, even in everyday routines we are already embedded in a global context – we are global citizens. Objects, ideas, people from “beyond everyday,” from beyond our city, region or even state contribute and shape our daily lives and our opportunities. As global humans, we talk about global issues with our friends and families, and as facilitators, teachers and trainers to children, youth or adult learners. Hardly any of the issues we work on can be fully understood without addressing the global connections behind them. This handbook is designed to support you in including the global, the international and the European perspectives in your educational work.

#2 Holistic Learning

Ed.: Elke Heublein, Nils-Eyk Zimmermann

Competencies are shaped best through processes that include a broad range of learning opportunities, such as incorporating knowledge, learning by doing, reflecting on specific actions, and cooperative learning. This allows for a conversation between self-driven activities and methods of facilitation that include participants and groups and all their diverse needs, experiences, and expertise. In the series we introduce with this book a planning approach and the building blocks for such a holistic learning experience, and explore how “facilitation” adopts a different attitude from a classical model of teaching.
